Coleman Architects, a distillery building with visitors centre and adjacent warehouse were introduced into the village of Tarbert providing its already distinct identity with a new iconic centre piece. While also contributing to Tarbert’s economic and cultural well-being, the project provided the Isle of Harris with its first distillery.</image:caption>

<image:caption>HOUSE EXTENSION, NORTH BERWICK, EAST LOTHIAN The client's requirements were for additional living / dining space, plenty of natural light, and to take advantage of the underused, south-facing, back garden. A spacious and bright, kitchen extension, with a vaulted ceiling, generous amounts of glass and a set of bi-fold doors was introduced that provided the desired light levels and an improved connection with the garden.</image:caption>

<image:caption>REAR EXTENSION, STRATHALMOND ROAD, EDINBURGH. A design for a living-area extension to replace an existing conservatory/garden room. The new cantilevered addition was elevated to marry with the split level layout of the existing modernist dwelling, while capitalising on views down the garden towards the mature woodland beyond.</image:caption>

<image:caption>HOUSE EXTENSION, NORTH MIDDLETON, MIDLOTHIAN In response to the need for a cost-effective extension that would address existing issues concerned with a lack of both usable space and natural light, a simple contemporary addition was conceived that comprised a new dining area and a small home office, enveloped by generous amounts of glazing within ‘blackened’ timber clad walls.</image:caption>

<image:caption>KITCHEN EXTENSION, FINDHORN PLACE, EDINBURGH. An open, bright, and functional extension was proposed to address the lack of available kitchen space and to offer a better connection with the exquisite garden at the rear of the property. The design and use of materials were carefully conceived to reflect the nature of the existing building and to be sympathetic to the conservation area in which it is situated.</image:caption>

<image:caption>REAR 2-STOREY EXTENSION, INTERNAL ALTERATIONS & IMPROVEMENTS, BANTON, KILSYTH. The design features a two-storey extension to replace a dilapidated existing structure at the rear of a much-altered 18th-century cottage. The proposals include an open-plan living space (encompassing kitchen, dining, and family areas with access to the garden), a large en-suited master bedroom with a feature corner window providing views of the nearby hills, and an extensively reconfigured floor plan that accommodates four bedrooms and two additional bathrooms</image:caption>

<image:caption>REAR EXTENSION, WOODHALL ROAD, EDINBURGH A two-storey extension to the rear of an existing bungalow situated at the top end of a long, sloping site. The split-level upper floor of the extension accommodates the new living room and an adjacent music room/office, all accessed from the remodeled kitchen/dining area. The lower, garden-level floor of the extension provides two bedrooms, a family bathroom, and a utility cupboard. A glass wall above the new stair offers views from the entry hallway, through the house, and out to the rear garden beyond. The forms and nature of the various elements that shape the extension were conceived in response to multiple planning constraints, as well as an attempt to temper the visual impact of what was to become a prominent addition to the existing house</image:caption>
